Zion Market has officially opened its new location on the first floor of the Rise Koreatown mixed-use building at 8th Street and Oxford Avenue in Los Angeles’ Koreatown.

After closing its Vermont Avenue store in April and undergoing a soft opening, the Oxford Avenue location celebrated its grand opening on December 9, marking the start of full operations.

Spanning approximately 23,000 square feet, the new store offers parking for up to 220 vehicles, enhancing customer convenience and accessibility. Zion Market described the Oxford location as a “superette,” combining the benefits of a traditional supermarket with the modern convenience of a specialty store. The store focuses on small packaging, meal kits, and competitive pricing.

The deli section is overseen by Chef Won-seok Kang, known for operating Korean restaurants Haneuem and Dasom. It features freshly prepared meal kits and side dishes tailored for individuals or small households. The menu includes affordable, portioned Korean soups and side dishes designed to meet the needs of one- or two-person households.

Store Manager John Yoon emphasized the focus on affordability and quality during a time of high inflation. “Many Korean households consist of single or small families, so we’ve increased the availability of smaller packaging to meet their needs,” he explained.

Adjacent to the market, retail shops such as Paris Baguette, Palace Beauty, Danada Apparel, and Q&Q Jewelry are already operating, with additional businesses, including Concerto Bakery, set to join soon.

In celebration of the grand opening, the Oxford location is hosting a special event from December 9 to December 18. Customers who spend $100 or more can participate in a spin-the-wheel event with guaranteed prizes, such as popular food items like Shin Ramyun Toomba, Ottogi Jin Ramen Cups, and Pulmuone Crispy Seaweed. Shoppers spending $200 or more will receive a bag of California rice.

Additionally, all store items, including meats, produce, and household goods, are eligible for an extra 10% discount during the promotional period.

Yoon expressed excitement about the new location, stating, “We’re thrilled to offer an enhanced shopping experience and services at our new Oxford store. We hope customers will visit during the event period to enjoy the special benefits we’ve prepared.”
