Which grocery stores and retailers will open on Christmas Day and Eve?

Holiday shoppers planning to go grocery shopping or dine out on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day should expect some inconveniences.

Most businesses will be closed on Christmas Day except for convenience stores and some fast food restaurants. However, while some retailers will be open on Christmas Eve, many will operate with reduced or earlier hours.

For instance, Costco’s hours on Christmas Eve will be from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sam’s Club (7 a.m.-6 p.m.), Walmart (6 a.m.-6 p.m.), Kroger (9 a.m.-9 p.m.), Trader Joe’s (8 a.m.-5 p.m.), and Dollar General (8 a.m.-10 p.m.) will operate outside of normal hours. Macy’s will also open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Aldi and Big Lots hours vary by store location, so customers are advised to check their respective websites for specific details on their websites (stores.aldi.us/ca, local.biglots.com/ca).

Whole Foods, Home Depot, Target, and Rite Aid will maintain their normal business hours on Christmas Eve.

For 24-hour convenience stores like Circle K and 7-Eleven, regular operations will continue on Christmas Day., as well as Walgreens (8 a.m.-6 p.m.).

Starbucks locations will close at varying times between 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., depending on the store. Other restaurants including Denny’s, Domino’s, Dunkin’ Donuts, IHOP, and McDonald’s will be open on Christmas Day. However, it’s best to check before you go as some restaurants may have different hours or may not be open at all.
