This coffee shop blurs the line between art gallery and cafe with artistic experience

M Cafe, the latest addition to LA Koreatown’s bustling coffee scene, distinguishes itself with its focus on arts, culture, and community rather than just its menu offerings.

Upon entering M Cafe, guests are greeted with an art gallery experience. At the forefront stands an iconic piece titled ‘Coffee Cup’ by renowned pop artist Burton Morris, known for his work featured in the sitcom ‘Friends’ and collaborations with major brands like Chanel and Playboy.

The 2,500-square-foot space of M Cafe is adorned with 16 original paintings by Burton Morris, offering patrons a unique blend of daily life and pop art.
Owner Chae Ma’s extensive art collection, which includes works by Morris, Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, and other modern pop art luminaries, further enhances the cafe’s ambiance.

In addition to its coffee offerings, M Cafe will soon feature a wine bar spanning 2,500 square feet, offering tapas, fine wines, local handmade rice wine, and craft beer—a nod to the evolving tastes of younger generations.

The cafe’s expansive 3,500-square-foot patio resembles a beach town restaurant terrace, offering an inviting space for coffee and brunch during the day, and wine by electric fire pits at night.

M Cafe doubles as a community hub, providing a space for exhibitions and gatherings, further blurring the lines between a traditional coffee shop and a communal space.

LaB Coffee’s fairly traded beans are used for M Cafe’s coffee, ensuring ethical sourcing at fair prices. Exclusive specialty drinks, like mixed grain latte and Three-berry Blossom, add to the cafe’s charm.

With prices lower than the neighborhood average, M Cafe aims to make quality coffee accessible to all. Americano is priced at $3.75, espresso at $3.50, and specialty drinks around $6.

Situated on the second floor of M Plaza at 2789 W. Olympic Boulevard, M Cafe invites patrons to its grand opening event on March 23, where Burton Morris will personally sign prints of his ‘Coffee Cup’ artwork.
