The teaser photo released Wednesday on the boy band’s social media page showed Suga playing the keyboard in his studio, with the title of the track and its release date written below the photo.
The upcoming release featuring singer-songwriter IU will be an extension of the track “People,” which was released in May 2020 on Agust D’s second mixtape, and the second collaboration between the two artists after Suga produced and featured in IU’s 2020 digital single “eight.”
“The track talks about the endless relationships between people and the emotions felt in an Agust D way,” the press release said.
“Based on boom bap rhythms, the track harmonizes Suga’s rapping and IU’s clear voice into one.”
“D-DAY” will be Suga’s first official solo album and conclude his Agust D trilogy, following the release of two mixtapes, “Agust D” (2016) and “D-2” (2020).
Agust D, Suga’s second stage name, is an anagram of “D tsugA” which refers to “Daegu town Suga,” or Suga from his hometown Daegu. The two mixtapes released under the stage name Agust D were released on SoundCloud in 2016 and 2020.
Disney+ and Weverse teased Friday the documentary “Suga: Road to D-Day,” without revealing the release dates.
Suga is planning to embark on his first solo world tour, “Agust D Tour” starting April 26 with performances in the United States.
