Steven Yeun has won the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards for his role in the Netflix drama ‘Beef’.
During the 30th annual SAG Awards at the Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall in Los Angeles, Yeun received the award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Movie or Limited Series.
This win marks Yeun’s award wins at four major awards in the U.S. this year, including the Golden Globes, Emmys, and Critics’ Choice Awards.
The SAG Awards hold special significance for actors, as they represent recognition from their peers in Hollywood.
Yeun expressed gratitude towards his parents and highlighted the role of his acting coach, recounting, “Whenever I mentioned, ‘You don’t understand, this is very Korean,’ she’d respond, ‘No, that’s a universal experience,’ which meant a lot to me.”
Ali Wong, Yeun’s co-star in ‘Beef,’ also clinched the award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in the same category.
Directed and written by Korean-American Lee Sung Jin, Beef features Steven Yeun among its Korean cast. The film narrates a conflict beginning with a minor road rage incident and escalating into an extended feud.
