Steve Kang, Director of External Relations at the Korean Youth and Community Center (KYCC), has officially begun his role as a commissioner for the Los Angeles Board of Public Works.
During his swearing-in ceremony at City Hall on October 30, Commissioner Kang expressed his commitment, stating, “I will do my best to fulfill the responsibilities of this important position.” He added, “I will strive to better support minority communities, including the Korean community.”
Kang’s family also attended the ceremony to celebrate the occasion.
Commissioner Kang will complete the remaining term of Commissioner Susana Reyes, serving until June of next year, after which he will undergo reappointment procedures for a five-year term.
The Board of Public Works oversees the Los Angeles Department of Public Works, managing an annual budget of approximately $1 billion. It directly supervises five bureaus: Sanitation, Street Services, Street Lighting, Engineering, and Contract Administration. The board is one of the city’s most influential commissions, closely connected to the daily lives of LA residents.
Meanwhile, Commissioner Kang resigned from his position as KYCC Director, a role he had held for seven years, on the same day.
