A Korean drug dealer who had been on the run for three years has finally been arrested.
The Minnesota local newspaper InForum reported on the 24th that Hong Joo-rang (28), a Korean drug dealer, was imprisoned in Clay County Prison on a total of 12 charges, including selling marijuana.
According to the police, Hong has been suspected of receiving a total of 388 pounds of marijuana from Oakland, California since November 2018 and selling it in the Moorhead area of Clay County.
Hong was found to have been dealing drugs with his girlfriend Shania Winter Sievert and former roommate, Tahmid Hossain.
The police learned of Hong’s illegal activities in February 2020 through a report from the US Postal Inspector’s Office, where they flagged a package addressed to Hong in Oakland after a K-9 picked up a drug scent. 11 pounds of marijuana was found in the package.
However, when the police visited his home with a search warrant, he had already left to South Korea in May 2019 for military service. Even in Hong’s absence, his girlfriend and former roommate continued to deal drugs.
All three of them were indicted by the Clay County District prosecutors.
Hong is expected in court on Friday.
