Korean football star Son Heung-min has been selected as the face of Samsung Electronics’ Galaxy brand.
“Samsung Electronics is delighted to work together with Son Heung-min, who has given so much joy to Koreans via soccer,” the company said in a release Friday evening.
“[Son] plans to show various looks with the Galaxy brand.”
The Tottenham Hotspur striker was caught wearing what is speculated to be Galaxy Watch 6 at Incheon International Airport on Friday.
“The watch Son was caught wearing is the new Galaxy watch series we plan to showcase,” Samsung Electronics confirmed.
The Galaxy Watch 6 is expected to have its world premiere at the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event scheduled for July 26 in Seoul, alongside Samsung Electronics’ new foldables including the Z Flip 5 and the Z Fold 5.
Son was reportedly provided with the new foldable phones as well.
Son was publicly known to be an Apple user, with the 31-year-old seen holding an iPhone and wearing EarPods multiple times.
Samsung Electronics reached out to Son last year after the FIFA World Cup Qatar in 2022.
The company presented Son with a limited edition of the Galaxy Z Flip 4 that it collaborated on with French luxury brand Maison Margiela last year, thanking him for the his great performance at the World Cup.
“You worked so hard during the World Cup season,” a note from Samsung Electronics told Son, who uploaded it to his Instagram account.
“Thanks to you, everyone was so happy in November and December. We hope you rest and recover well, and stay healthy. Wish you all the best!”
Son is the only celebrity to whom Samsung Electronics gifted the Margiela edition of the Galaxy Z Flip 4.
