Two people were seriously injured after a sinkhole on a road swallowed their car in Yeonhui-dong in Seodaemun District, western Seoul, on Thursday.
According to fire authorities, a Tivoli SUV sank into Seongsan-ro as it headed toward Seongsan Bridge at around 11:26 a.m.
A woman passenger in her 70s and a driver in his 80s were transported to a nearby hospital. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) was performed on the woman passenger as she was initially found in a state of cardiac arrest.
The JoongAng Ilbo reported that her pulse returned later. First responders are clearing and restricting access to the site.
