Shilla Hotel President Boo Jin Lee (pictured) has been appointed to the board of directors of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA).

LACMA announced today that Lee has been appointed to the board, effective this year.

In addition to Mr. Lee, LACMA also announced 10 new board members today. The new additions bring the total number of LACMA trustees to 65, joining the existing 54.

“Mrs. Lee is an influential supporter of modern and contemporary art and has expanded her efforts to share the art and culture of Korea and Asia with the United States and the world,” LACMA said in a statement. “For more than a decade, she has supported LACMA with exhibitions and programs, including the Art + Film Gala.”

According to LACMA, the exhibition “In Between: Modern Korean Art,” that ran from September last year through the end of last month, was also supported by Samsung Culture Foundation.

Co-organized by LACMA and the Korea National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, the exhibition also featured 20 works of art donated to the museum by the late Samsung Group Chairman Lee Kun-hee, including works from the “Lee Kun-hee Collection.” The collection included well-known artists such as Lee Dae-seop, Park Soo-geun, Jang Wook-jin, Lee Eung-no, and Lee Sung-ja.

LACMA announced that construction on its new building is more than halfway complete, and that it has raised 97 percent of the $750 million needed for the project. It also announced that its board members have contributed $330 million, or about half of the total amount raised.
