Samsung Electronics will unify the name of the software that runs through its smartphones as well as home appliances for a more integrated user experience.

The Korean electronics giant announced it will unify the software across its major product lines under the name One UI next year at Samsung Developer Conference 2024 in San Jose, California, on Thursday.

Until now, software systems across Samsung Electronics’ products have been branded under different names.

For Galaxy smartphones, it has been One UI. For TVs, it has been Tizen OS, and for refrigerators, it has been Family Hub.

“By providing a cohesive product experience and committing to software upgrades for up to seven years, Samsung will continue to bring innovation for its customers,” the company said in a release Friday

Samsung Electronics reiterated its commitment to deploying AI across its product lines.

“Samsung Electronics will continue advancing its AI technology to a level where the AI automatically recognizes each user individually — from their voice to their location — to provide a more personalized experience,” Samsung Electronics CEO and Vice Chairman Han Jong-hee said in a keynote speech at the developer conference.

“These efforts will create more convenient and secure multidevice experiences by leveraging Samsung’s AI-based software, platform innovation and security technology.”

The annual developer event, which greets its 10th anniversary this year, was held under the theme “AI for All — A Decade of Open Innovation and Beyond” and was attended by some 3,000 developers and partners.
