Starting mid-January 2024, residents in LA’s Koreatown can experience Waymo’s Robo-taxis.
Google’s autonomous vehicle subsidiary, Waymo, recently unveiled plans to pilot its Robotaxi service in locations such as Los Angeles, Koreatown, and Santa Monica prior to a full-scale commercial rollout.
The pilot series will kick off in Santa Monica from October 11 to November 18. Subsequent locations include Century City (Nov. 20-Dec. 17), West Hollywood (Dec. 17, 2023 – Jan. 7, 2024), Mid-City (Jan. 8- Jan. 23, 2024), Koreatown (Jan. 24- Feb. 8, 2024), and culminating in Downtown LA from Feb. 9 to March 3, 2024.
Interested riders can secure a spot either by attending a pop-up event near the pilot venues or by joining the waitlist available on Waymo’s official website at (waymo.com/waitlist) or via the Waymo One smartphone app at (waymo.com/waymo-one).
The robo-taxi service while pilot is free of charge and operates 24/7 for the public.
