With the May 7 Real ID enforcement deadline approaching, the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) has expanded services to accommodate the growing number of applicants.

Saturday service for Real ID applicants
Beginning May 3, 11 DMV offices will open on Saturdays exclusively for Real ID applicants. Southern California locations include:

Through June 27, 14 DMV offices in Southern California will open one hour earlier—at 7 a.m. instead of 8 a.m.—on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays (excluding Wednesdays). These locations are:

Real ID application process
To apply for a Real ID, applicants should visit REALID.dmv.ca.gov, create an online account, and upload the required identification documents. After booking an in-person appointment, applicants must bring:

A passport or birth certificate

A Social Security card

Two proofs of California residency (e.g., utility bill, bank statement, vehicle registration, or phone bill)
Help available for seniors
The DMV also stated that seniors who have difficulty using the internet may apply in person by scheduling an appointment at:
dmv.ca.gov/portal/appointments/select-location/A and bringing original copies of all required documents.
