NewJeans is taking over global music charts with its latest release “Ditto.”
The track topped Chinese QQ Music’s charts for trending music and new releases as well as the music video chart on Tuesday, a day after its release on Monday.
The two music videos for “Ditto” — titled side A and side B — also became the No. 1 and No. 2 trending videos on YouTube in Korea, and landed in the top ten on charts in the United Kingdom, the United States, Japan, and France.
The song already topped local music charts Melon, Bugs, and Genie on the day of its release.
“Ditto” is a reinterpretation of the Baltimore club, a genre fusing hip-hop and house music that originated in the 1990s. Member Minji participated in writing the lyrics.
The music video for “Ditto,” which consists of two parts, is also going viral for its retro mood and storytelling.
NewJeans’ second EP “OMG” will drop on Jan. 2.
