Singer Nam Tae-hyun and ex-reality star Seo Min-jae are expected to soon be called in for police investigations, the Seoul Yongsan Police Station said Friday.
Based on the violation of the Narcotics Control Act, the police confirmed to the press that it has undergone procedures to book charges and that it has “not yet decided when the investigations will begin.”
The Chosun Ilbo reported that Nam’s agency Noname Music said it “has not heard anything from the police yet” and that it “does not know anything” about the issue.
On Aug. 20, Seo posted on her social media channels that she and Nam are “drug addicts” and that Nam “did Philopon,” or methamphetamine.
While the post has since been deleted, online users reported it to the police.
Seo tried to clear up the allegations by claiming earlier this week that “it was a fight,” as the two are “dating” and “both had faults.”
“I had started taking more than the prescribed amount of my psychiatric medication because I was feeling stressed and I lost control so that I don’t even remember right now [what I did],” Seo said on social media. “So I posted something false and then made a mistake where I hurt myself, and I’m at the hospital. I’m posting this late because I was undergoing treatment. We [Nam and Seo] buried the hatchet. I’m so sorry for causing inconvenience to so many people.”
Seo and Nam are co-owners of a cafe slash bar in Yongsan District, central Seoul. The two were not publicly known to be a couple before the incident.
Seo was a participant in the third season of Channel A’s dating reality show “Heart Signal” which aired in 2020. Before that, she worked as a mechanic at Hyundai Motor.
Nam debuted as a K-pop singer in 2013 as a member of the boy band Winner. He left the group in 2016 and releases music as a member of the band South Club.
