A recent poll shows that three-term Korean-American U.S. Congresswoman Michelle Steel and a first-time U.S. Congress candidate Dave Min, are trailing their opponents in the race, but the margins remain within the margin of error, making it difficult to determine a clear frontrunner.

The poll, conducted jointly by USC, Cal State Long Beach, and Cal Poly Pomona from September 14 to 21, surveyed six competitive congressional districts in Southern California. In the 45th district, Steel garnered 43.3% support, while her Democratic opponent, Derek Tran, led slightly with 44.8%.

In the 47th district, Min secured 42.5% of the vote, trailing Republican Scott Baugh, who received 46.2%, by approximately four percentage points.

Voter sentiment remains fluid, with over 10% of respondents yet to decide on a candidate. In the 45th district, 11.3% of voters remain undecided, while 10.1% in the 47th district have yet to choose a candidate.

Interestingly, the same poll shows Democratic Senate candidate Adam Schiff leading his Republican rival Steve Garvey by 6.8 percentage points in the 45th district. In the presidential race, Democratic candidate Kamala Harris leads Donald Trump by 8.3 percentage points.

In the 47th district, the Senate race is almost tied, with Schiff at 45.5% and Garvey at 45.6%. For the presidential race, Harris holds 47.3% of the vote compared to Trump’s 43.5%.

The poll surveyed 498 respondents in the 45th district (margin of error 4.4%) and 525 respondents in the 47th district (margin of error 4.3%).
