A service that integrates artificial intelligence (AI) with everyday tasks has garnered attention at the World Korean Business Convention. At the booth of Maum.AI, an AI service and platform development company based in Seongnam City in South Korea, attendees eagerly engaged with AI virtual customer service on a large screen.

Taejoon Yoo, CEO of Maum.AI, said, “Our cloud-based AI platform collaborates with ChatGPT to deliver flexible and intelligent customer response services. For instance, the hotel concierge AI receptionist we showcased, can handle various queries like room reservations, facility usage, package information, and weather forecasts in multiple languages including Korean, English, Japanese, Chinese, Spanish, and French.”

“The AI is operational in customer service centers of financial institutions such as Shinhan Bank, concierge services at Yongin Severance Hospital, and as a weathercaster at Yeosu MBC. Additionally, we offer AI services in over ten sectors including docents, insurance agents, baristas, and call centers.”

Since its inception in 2014, Maum.AI has introduced a deep learning-based AI real-time voice counseling product and was featured in Forbes Asia’s “10 South Korean Startups Breaking Out in 2017.”

Recognized among Korea’s top 10 AI companies, Maum.AI went public on KOSDAQ in 2021 and launched Mind Orchestra, an enterprise service development engine using AI, last year.

In April, the company rebranded from Minds Lab to Maum.AI, unveiling the Maum AI Platform 2.0 and AI Human M3 (human-ai-m3.maum.ai).

Yoo elaborated on Maum.AI’s participation in the convention, saying, “We aimed to acquire customers and local partners in the LA area, and we engaged with several potential clients. Our AI platform service is B2B-focused, requiring customization to suit client needs. We also found a partner committed to this endeavor.”

Addressing concerns about AI impacting human employment, Yoo replied, “It’s not a straightforward threat. With Korea’s acute labor shortage and a fertility rate at 0.6, AI can be a valuable asset for handling simple, repetitive tasks around the clock.”
