A woman believed to be of Korean descent was fatally shot by her live-in partner, whom she had met through a dating app, in Las Vegas.

According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD), Elizabeth Nam, 53, was found dead with a gunshot wound to her back at a residence near Aspen Shadow Street around 4 a.m. on February 9.

Police investigations revealed that Nam had met Moore on a dating app about a month ago and had since moved into his home, leading to their cohabitation.

A roommate who was present at the time of the incident told police that they had heard the couple engaged in a heated argument. Shortly afterward, Moore allegedly came downstairs and appeared to have shot Nam, according to the witness’s testimony.

Moore told police that the argument escalated into a physical fight and that he fired the gun because he felt threatened. The police report noted that Moore smelled of alcohol and had bloodshot eyes when officers arrived at the scene.

According to local news outlet KLAS, police observed that Moore had a swollen lip and scratches on his knees when they arrived. When questioned by medical personnel about his injuries, Moore claimed that Nam had bitten him, and he had bitten her in return.

Nam was found with scratches on her face and arms, bleeding near her jaw, and abrasions on her head.

Moore has been charged with open murder and is being held at the Clark County Detention Center without bail.
