LA County sales tax will increase from 10.25% to 10.50% starting April 1, following the approval of Measure A by voters in 2024. According to Fox News, the new measure replaces Measure H, which previously raised the sales tax by 0.25%. The key provision of Measure A is the doubling of the “homeless sales tax,” raising it from 0.025% to 0.05%.

Approved in November last year, the tax hike applies across Los Angeles County, though rates may vary in unincorporated areas. For example, Palmdale will see its rate rise from 10.25% to 11.25%, an increase of 1 percentage point. Meanwhile, Torrance will experience a 0.25 percentage point hike, bringing its rate from 10.00% to 10.25%.
