Korean-American woman appointed as judge in LA County Superior Court

Korean-American prosecutor was appointed as a judge in LA County Superior Court.

California Governor Gavin Newsom announced on October 9 the appointment of Esther Ro (Korean name: Kyungmin), a Senior Appellate Attorney at the Second District Court of Appeal, as a judge for the Los Angeles County Superior Court.

Judge Ro will fill the vacancy left by the retirement of Judge Paul Bacigalupo.

After graduating from UCLA School of Law, Judge Ro worked as a fellow at the Asian Pacific American Legal Center.

She later practiced law at prestigious firms such as Squire, Sanders & Dempsey, and Morgan, Lewis & Bockius. Since 2019, she has served as a Senior Appellate Attorney at the Second District Court of Appeal.

Governor Newsom named 18 judges to courts in eight counties, including Orange, San Bernardino, Colusa, Contra Costa, and Sacramento counties.
