Korean American Family Services (KFAM) is hosting a fundraising event as it aims to promote its program to find homes for adopted children.

The event will be held on Sept. 21 at 6 p.m. in Hollywood (Taglyan Complex) under the title, “The 34th Annual Fundraiser.”

“KFAM has become the only Asian-American community organization with a license to act as a foster family agency thanks to the love and support of many families who were behind our program,” said KFAM executive director Connie Chung. “At this year’s fundraising event, we’d like to show you how the children at foster homes have changed their lives.”

Case in point, foster parents and children will attend this year’s event.
“The fundraising event this year will be held to reflect on the effect of our program for Korean foster children which started in 2014,” said KFAM community relations specialist Dong-hee Kim. “The foster parents who provided homes for children who had nowhere to go will be at the event to speak about their experiences.”

A married couple who have raised 12 foster children in the last three years after completing KFAM’s training program will give a speech to start the event.

“The foster parents, who are both in their 50s, sacrificed themselves for the futures of the children,” Kim said. “The children who’ve overcome difficulties and are now living happy lives will also be on stage at the event.”

KFAM will also auction off 60 items at the event to raise funds for its cause.

Tickets for the event are available on KFAM website (kfamla.org). The event will be sponsored by title sponsor CBB and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
