“Ready, everyone? One, two, three, smile!”

Laughter filled the air at the Korea Daily’s 50th-anniversary family photo event for its readers.

On June 29, around 45 families gathered at the Korea Daily headquarters’ basement gallery to capture precious moments together. Readers at the event helped each other adjust their outfits and wore bright smiles during the photo sessions, creating a joyful atmosphere.

This event was organized to celebrate the newspaper’s 50th anniversary and to provide readers with unforgettable memories. Families donned bow ties, colorful dresses, suits and ties, and matching T-shirts, reflecting on the cherished value of family.

The photography sessions often showcased a warm and loving atmosphere, with three generations—from grandparents to grandchildren—coming together. Grandparents hugged their grandchildren tightly before and after the photo sessions, expressing their joy. In one touching moment, a mother and daughter held hands while looking at the camera, conveying their love for each other.

Jongsoo Park (75) and Chunhee Park (72), who came from Torrance with their daughter, son-in-law, and four grandchildren, shared their happiness: “It’s wonderful to have the whole family together to take a photo, especially since the grandchildren are on vacation. The photo staff were so detailed in helping us pose and shared in our joy without showing any sign of fatigue.”

Seven-year-old Peyton Lee, granddaughter of Junho Lee (81) and Myungja Lee (75), said, “It’s my first time taking a family photo in a place with such bright lights. I was a little nervous at first, but now I feel happy.”

The family photo event ran from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with members of the Southern California Photographers Association, led by President Sangdong Kim, handling photography and editing. The event was sponsored by Calco Insurance, represented by CEO Chulho Jin.

The family photos will be printed and framed, and delivered to each family in about a month.
