The Korean Investors & Traders Association Southern California (KITA) convened its 2024 Annual General Meeting and 29th Chairman’s Inauguration Ceremony.

On March 6, KITA hosted the event at CGV Buena Park, marking the inauguration of the 29th chairman, approval of the executive team, presentation of the 2023 business report, announcement of the 2024 business plan, introduction of new corporate heads and member companies, and the presentation of plaques of appreciation and merit.

The ceremony formally installed the 29th leadership team, headed by Hansoo Kim, President of DB Group, and drew attendance from over 150 member companies.

Kim, elected as the 29th KITA Chairman, serves as the president of DB Group’s US/EU Manufacturing/Service Group and heads DB Group’s Management Research Center.

In his inaugural address, Kim invoked John Lennon’s words, “A dream you dream alone is only a dream, but a dream you dream together is a reality,” stressing that “KITA’s growth hinges not on individuals but on collective vision, dreams, and dedication.”

“We will uphold KITA’s core agenda and enhance the association’s operations as needed,” he remarked, adding, “We aim to strengthen ties with the Korean-American community.”

Among KITA’s focal projects this year are regular seminars, company visits, employee training programs, a golf tournament fundraiser for scholarships, athletic events, scholarship initiatives, rice donation drives, and sponsorship of Korean-American community events.

“The steady rise in membership over the past three years underscores our commitment to information sharing, networking, and community contribution,” noted Hans Shin, who served as the 26th, 27th, and 28th chairman of KITA. “Member harmony, camaraderie, and solidarity are paramount.”

The Korea Daily joined as an advisory board member, and 18 other companies, including Bando Construction, Samyang America, and CJ Foodville USA, became new member companies.

Moreover, 14 member companies, including newly appointed executives like KT America President Dongki Hong, POSCO International America General Manager Sejun Hwang, Dongkuk Steel Executive Director Myungsoo Kim, Hite Jinro America President Mincheol Song, and Target America President David Park, graced the event.

Established in 1980, KITA fosters mutual information exchange and networking among local corporations and branches affiliated with parent companies in Korea. The organization aids members in establishing a foothold in the Americas and supports investment and trade through collaborations with local entities. KITA boasts 160 member companies.

Following the general meeting, KITA conducted a seminar on the current state and future outlook of the U.S. economy featuring Quantum F&A CEO Jack Choi as the speaker.

KITA will host its 2024 Scholarship Fundraising Golf Tournament on April 27 at Oak Quarry Golf Club.
