Javier Milei’s Reform Sparks Protests in Argentina
Buenos Aires – Javier Milei’s reform agenda is reshaping Argentina, fueling both hope and resistance. Dubbed the “Trump of South America,” he has vowed to rebuild the nation’s economy. Borrowing Donald Trump’s slogan, he has launched his own version—”Make Argentina Great Again.”
However, his sweeping economic changes have triggered strong opposition. The government plans to slash ministries from 18 to 7 and enforce strict austerity measures. In particular, a pension reform proposal tightening eligibility requirements has sent thousands of elderly citizens into the streets in protest.

While some view Javier Milei’s reform as necessary, others fear it will deepen inequality. The backlash highlights the growing divide over right-wing economic policies.
Early Tuesday morning, tension built outside Argentina’s National Congress in Buenos Aires, where a mass protest against Javier Milei’s reform is scheduled for 4 p.m. The demonstration follows violent clashes on March 12, when police arrested more than 100 people and 15 suffered serious injuries

During the riots, journalist Pablo Grillo sustained critical injuries after a police-fired tear gas canister hit him in the head.
As the protest nears, security remains tight, yet the crowd keeps growing. Despite restricted access, local and international media have gathered to report on the unrest.
