Is ChatGPT the new future?

ChatGPT, an artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot created by OpenAI, is the talk of the town. It surpassed 100 million users in about two months since its launch, and is collecting more than 10 million daily users alone.

ChatGPT is an artificial intelligence text generator that understands users’ questions and generates human-like answers through training based on language data. Although ChatGPT has just been released on the market in the industry, it is praised as the “technology that will surpass Google in the future” for its in-depth knowledge, excellent productivity, and how closely it mimics human interaction and responses.

How to use ChatGPT ▶

After entering the OpenAI website (https://chat.openai.com), log into your Google account, enter your user name, and simply authenticate your phone number. You have full access of the artificial intelligence in your monitor. If you ask in Korean, it will either answer in Korean or English.

As a test, I asked about the prospects of cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin. “When will the price of Bitcoin exceed $30,000 again?” ChatGPT responded, “The price of Bitcoin depends on numerous variables such as supply and demand,” and added, “The decision to invest should be made carefully and the risks and rewards accordingly should be recognized in advance.” I was a little disappointed because it was a rather generic answer, but was pleasantly surprised of how logical it was.

▶ The answers change every time you ask

I asked ‘how to make money’, the question I’m most curious about.

“Tell me how I can make profits with AI.” A total of four methods were provided in about 10 seconds. ▶Development of chatbots or virtual assistants ▶Creating contents such as articles, blog posts, and product descriptions ▶Automating repetitive tasks, etc. And the answer, “You can use ChatGPT to answer questions on a variety of topics and monetize your service by charging a paid subscription or a per-use amount.” was very impressive. To my follow-up question, “Any other way?”, the AI suggested commercial production and translation work. If you slightly change the question, the answer changes with it. I could tell that it was learning by the second.

Some people are already using this AI to make money. Real estate agents are using it to write introductions for sale, as suggested by AI. When I asked for a real estate property introduction that’s about to be posted online after giving it only the most basic information, such as the structure and location of the house, it gave me a plausible sales pitch in about five seconds.

Industry sources said that it is used to in sales, social media marketing, customer service, and even calculating mortgages of commercial or residential buildings. Some YouTubers are generating profits by filming videos scripted by ChatGPT, and YouTube is overflowing with videos about it. Some companies use it to promote their socials in other languages.

In addition, if you choose to ask a general topic of high interest of many, such as motivation, health, or financial savings, you will notice how professional and expert-level the responses become as you continue to revise the questions and regenerate answers.

▶ Usage Cases in Real Life

Most recently, Federal Representative Jake Auchincloss on the 25th of last month read a public speech written by ChatGPT that introduced a bill to jointly set up an AI research center with the U.S. and Israel. This was the first case of speech reading that was scripted by an AI in Congress.

There is also a case of a book that was written and published using ChatGPT. In December last year, Ammaar Reshi published a 12-page children’s picture fairytale called “Alice & Sparkle” with text and images produced by Chat GPT.

▶ Subscription

Despite the convenience of artificial intelligence, there are also voices of concern about the side effects of technology and the problem of information gaps.

OpenAI set a monthly subscription fee of $20 for the premium version of ChatGPT on the 1st. The company announced its plan to launch “Chat GPT Plus” on its blog, explaining that subscribers will always be able to access chatbots even during peak times when people flock to chatbots. Subscribers will also be able to receive faster answers to questions and access new features and improvements first. The paid version is only available in the United States, but they plan to expand to other countries and regions. A sociology expert pointed out, “When the internet was first made public, the gap between the rich and the poor evolved into a digital divide. AI can cause a similar phenomena, adding, “It is currently $20 a month, but there is a possibility that it will increase to hundreds to thousands of dollars for premium services.” Moreover, he added that it is urgent to regulate AI as hackers use it to generate malicious code.

Moreover, experts caution against the use of ChatGPT because it can convey wrong or biased information, since it learns information based on what is collected by ChatGPT through interactions with users.
