The 21st World Korean Business Convention, held for the first time overseas at the Anaheim Convention Center last week, has been deemed a success beyond expectations. With more than 500 companies participating and showcasing their products at 650 booths, the Korea Daily will introduce the companies and entrepreneurs that attracted the attention of investors and visitors over five articles. -Ed.

One of the most crowded booths at the convention center, where products ranging from groceries to artificial intelligence (AI) were on display, was the instant ramen tasting corner.

Not only did the smell of ramen stimulate the visitors’ sense of smell, but the easy procedures of cooking ramen sparked people’s curiosity. Chris Kim, CEO of The Touch On, and Wendy Lee, Director of The Touch On, who presented the induction ramen cookers, said that they were flooded with inquiries, brochures, and business cards.

The Touch On ramen cooker, which uses induction heating, can cook ramen and other instant noodle products, such as Chapagetti, in three to four minutes by adjusting the time and amount of water. The ramen is placed in a special paper container with aluminum inserts and cooked automatically with the press of a button.

“The Touch On ramen cooker is manufactured in Korea and exclusively distributed in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, having rigorous UL and NSF certifications. We offer a free replacement service for one year from the date of purchase,” said Kim.

Kim said that orders are being placed not only by households but also by companies because of the deliciousness of the rapidly cooked ramen noodles. “A dozen ramen cookers have already been installed at the SK Battery factory in Georgia, which is preparing to start operation, delivering 10,000 containers of ramen per month. We also have orders with Samsung Electronics, Nongshim, H-Mart, Hanjin Global Logistics, Hyundai Mobis, and the Kia plant in Mexico.”

Director Lee, who is in charge of business in Korea, added, “We are a year and a half old company headquartered in Virginia, but through 14 logistics companies, we are offering free shipping so that people can taste Korea’s famous Han River ramen in LA and all over the country. In the future, we plan to sell a variety of other K-foods such as steamed eggs, tteokbokki, and kimchi fried rice to help merchants who want to promote K-food.”
