U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has ramped up enforcement efforts against undocumented immigrants in the Los Angeles area.
According to KTLA5, ICE agents conducted early morning raids on at least three residences in the Pico-Union and South LA areas between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. on February 27, resulting in the arrest of one woman.
Elvis Vasquez, a resident near West 10th Place, told KTLA5 that three armed ICE agents raided his home. “I was worried they would take my mother, but instead, they arrested a friend’s mother,” he said, adding, “They showed a search warrant, so we had no choice but to comply.”

Another witness, who requested anonymity, reported that ICE officers thoroughly searched the home, including the basement, leaving it in disarray.
The crackdown on undocumented immigrants is intensifying nationwide, including in Los Angeles, causing growing anxiety among local residents.
“I initially thought they were only targeting criminals,” one resident said. “But I saw a truck pull up and take an entire family away while they were on their way to school or out walking their dog. It’s terrifying. I don’t know what to expect anymore. I just hope things get better.”
