Amazon has partnered with Hyundai to introduce ‘Amazon Autos,’ an online platform for car purchases in 48 major cities, including Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, New York, Atlanta, and Chicago. Launched on December 10, the platform enables customers to complete the entire car-buying process online, from browsing and financing to scheduling vehicle pick-up.

The platform offers a user-friendly search tool that allows customers to customize their vehicle preferences, including model, trim, color, and options. Transparent pricing, inclusive of taxes and fees, is also provided. Buyers can secure online loan approvals or pay the full purchase price upfront. After purchase, customers can book a pick-up appointment without visiting a dealership.

Additional features include a trade-in service that calculates the value of an existing vehicle to offset the cost of a new purchase.

Amazon and Hyndai launched the online car purchasing platform ‘Amazon Autos.’

Hyundai has partnered exclusively with Amazon for this launch, with participating dealerships in key U.S. cities listing their inventory on the platform. Available models include the Palisade, Kona, Elantra, Venue, Sonata, Ioniq 5 and 6, Santa Cruz, Tucson, and Santa Fe.

To celebrate the launch, Amazon is offering a promotion: customers who complete a purchase through Amazon Autos by January 10, 2025, will receive a $2,300 Amazon gift card. Eligible buyers will receive the gift card via email within two weeks after vehicle pick-up.

Amazon has announced plans to collaborate with additional automakers, expand to more cities, and introduce leasing and other financial options to provide greater flexibility for customers.

Fan Jin, Global Automotive Lead at Amazon, stated, “We’re partnering with dealers and brands to redesign car shopping—making it more transparent, convenient, and customer-friendly.”

Steven Suh, Sales Manager at South Bay Hyundai, added, “Listing our inventory on Amazon is a game-changer for how we connect with car buyers. It allows us to showcase our vehicles to millions of daily shoppers, while setting our pricing upfront. We can now reach a large local audience with the convenient and transparent experience customers expect when shopping with Amazon.”

In other news, Hyundai has appointed Randy Parker as the new head of its North American operations. Parker, currently CEO of Hyundai Motor America (HMA), will succeed José Muñoz, the incoming Global President and CEO of Hyundai.

Starting January 1, Parker will oversee Hyundai and Genesis operations in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, as well as manufacturing facilities in Alabama and Georgia.
