Drama series “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” has been submitted to compete for the International Emmy Awards, local press reported Wednesday.

“Extraordinary Attorney Woo,” which aired last summer and garnered critical and commercial success, has been submitted for the International Emmy Awards which will take place in New York this coming November, reported Yonhap, citing sources within the entertainment industry.

Produced by domestic production company A Story, “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” depicts the story of Woo Young-woo, played by actor Park Eun-bin, who is on the autism spectrum and works as a lawyer. The drama series was aired on cable channel ENA and was also streamed on Netflix, topping the non-English language charts for seven straight weeks last year.

Hosted each year by the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, the International Emmy Awards are granted to television programs originally produced and aired outside of the United States, while the well-known Primetime Emmy Awards are given to American primetime television programs.

Another drama series starring Park Eun-bin, KBS’s “The King’s Affection,” won the Best Telenovela at last year’s International Emmy Awards.
