Donations to the Koreatown Senior & Community Center have increased to $1.6 million.

The Los Angeles Koreatown Senior & Community Center announced that three additional donors joined its December fundraising event, each pledging $10,000 annually for the next 10 years. This brings the total number of donors to 16.

Previously, the Senior Center held its first fundraising and pledge ceremony in December 2022, when 13 members of the Korean American business community pledged a total of $1.3 million over the next 10 years.

This year, three new donors joined the program: Ki Hong Park, CEO and President of Chun-Ha Insurance; Tae-ho Park, former chairman of Hanmi Medical Center; and Jina Kim, CEO of Admission Masters.

Sixteen donors have pledged funds for both the short- and long-term development of the Koreatown Senior & Community Center, each donating $10,000 annually.

This year’s benefactors, including the three new donors, are prominent figures committed to supporting the Senior Center. The patrons include Kee Whan Ha, the Center’s inaugural chairman; Kevin Kang, CEO of Edgemine and the Kang Dream Foundation; Gloria Kim of GLS Apparel Inc; Youngsuk Kim from 3Plus Logistics Group; and Don Rhee, founder of Active USA. Other significant donors include Brian Kim, CEO of Turbo Air; Yong Sin Shin, who leads BICICI&COTY and the Koreatown Senior & Community Center in LA Koreatown; Sang Young Lee, chairman of Pacific City Financial Corporation; Young-Geun Lee from Pro-Pac Distributing Corp.; Hyunok Lee of Rothrock Waves; Byung Tae Cho, chairman of the Sonnet Group; Bank of Hope; and The Korean American Foundation.

In addition to contributions from 16 regular donors, the Founder and Trustee of the Robin-Hwajin Yoon Kim Foundation made a generous donation of $50,000 under the name of the Korean American Foundation.

Combining the $160,000 from regular donations with the $50,000 one-time contribution, the Senior Center received a total of $210,000 in donations on that day.

At the event, 52 volunteers from the Senior Center received special gifts from the Senior Center’s board of directors, including woolen hats handmade by LeeHwa Wedding and Hanbok.
