TOUS les JOURS, the globally renowned K-bakery, plans to set up a production plant in the U.S. to further capture the American market.
On September 4, CJ Foodville (CEO Kim Chan-ho), the company owning TOUS les JOURS, confirmed their investment in a new factory in the U.S., choosing Georgia as its location.
With aspirations to inaugurate 1,000 TOUS les JOURS stores in the U.S. by 2030, CJ Foodville asserts that the decision to build the Georgia plant aligns perfectly with this ambition.
As detailed by the company, this production facility, located in Gainesville, Hall County, Georgia, represents an investment exceeding $38 million and spans approximately 970,000 square feet. With the potential to manufacture over 100 million units of frozen dough, cakes, and other items every year, the plant aims for completion by 2025. Once fully functional, it’s poised to become the primary production hub for the growing roster of TOUS les JOURS franchisees across North America.
Georgia stands out as a state welcoming to businesses, offering stellar connectivity to nationwide markets and hosting an industrial zone where over 330 international manufacturing and food corporations operate. The upcoming facility is anticipated to stimulate the local job market by generating upwards of 300 new employment opportunities.
Marking its U.S. debut in 2004 with a TOUS les JOURS store, CJ Foodville embraced franchising in 2009, subsequently embarking on an aggressive expansion drive. By 2018, it became the first CJ Foodville international subsidiary to post profits and maintained this streak for the subsequent five years.
Per CJ Foodville USA, TOUS les JOURS experienced a surge in U.S. sales last year, escalating by approximately 50%, and its operational profits spiked by 40% compared to the prior year. Impressively, in this year’s first half, sales rose by 50% and operational profit skyrocketed by 250%, relative to the same timeframe in the previous year.
At present, 100 TOUS les JOURS stores are operational across 26 states, including commercial hubs like Los Angeles, New York, New Jersey, and Massachusetts. The firm is optimistic about increasing this count to 120 by year-end and is determined to eclipse the 1,000-store mark by 2030, bolstering its global F&B stature.
A CJ Foodville representative commented, “Our new U.S. factory aims to augment our production and distribution capacities in tandem with the consistent growth and robust profitability of our TOUS les JOURS venture in the U.S.” He further elaborated, “We are committed to showcasing the unique appeal of K-Bakery through our top-tier product range, encompassing diverse breads and cakes. Our vision is to transcend U.S. borders and solidify our reputation as a globally cherished bakery brand.”
