The “Cheer Up K-Town” project, where Korean-American YouTubers donate their talents to create free promotional videos for Korean-American businesses to help revitalize the Koreatown economy, has unveiled its fourth hidden gem on February 23. This episode features ‘Chef Kang’s Dasom,’ located at Wilshire Boulevard and South Gramercy Place in LA Koreatown.

Six Korean-American YouTubers active in Los Angeles, including @ytmadang, @LAHannah, @ms.baek_cycling, @lalagrandma4363, @anhousetv, and @theshongman, released promotional videos for Korean-American restaurants in their unique styles at 7 p.m. on February 22. On the same day, @theshongman also shared behind-the-scenes footage and impressions from Dasom’s opening and the filming of Cheer Up K-Town through a live broadcast.

The promotional video was themed around humor. On the 19th, 20th, and 27th of January, the six YouTubers produced food-related parody videos. These included “Tracking the Forbidden Flavors,” a noir-themed video that highlighted their unique personalities, and “Finding Our Ads in Koreatown,” a mix of Mukbang and parody.

In the video, Alex, a white woman proficient in Korean, participated to add an exotic style to the promotion of Dasom.

Meanwhile, the Cheer Up K-Town project focuses on promoting legally operating restaurants that have received positive customer reviews but are facing business challenges. “With this promotional video, we aim to feature at least one Korean-American business every one to two months this year,” said Nicola Kwon of @ytmadang. “Despite the tough times, we are concentrating on the significance of unity and mutual support,” Kwon added.

“If anyone is interested in contributing to the Cheer Up K-Town project, please don’t hesitate to join us,” Kwon encouraged. “We aspire to build a community of Korean Americans who support and assist each other.”
