An entrepreneurial trade school designed to cultivate the next generation of Korean American entrepreneurs will convene in Los Angeles.
The World Federation of Overseas Korean Traders Association, known as OktaLA (Chairman Edward Sohn), held a press conference at the JJ Grand Hotel in Koreatown, Los Angeles, on August 31 to announce the 2023 World-Okta West Coast Next Generation Global Entrepreneurs Conference.
This event, orchestrated by OktaLA, is scheduled for September 22-24 at the Oxford Palace Hotel in downtown LA, themed “The New Normal”.
Annually, the World-Okta Next Generation Global Entrepreneurs Conference takes place in 140 chapters across 66 countries with the aim of educating young Korean American traders. This year, the baton has been passed to Okta LA, which will coordinate the event alongside six Northwest chapters: Calgary, Vancouver, Denver, Houston, Seattle, and San Francisco.
“The next generation trade school initiative is central to OktaLA’s mission, and this year, we celebrate its twenty-first anniversary,” said Edward Sohn, chairman of OktaLA. “A prime advantage for attendees is the chance to expand their network, connecting with nearly 32,000 World Okta members.”
Esteemed experts from various industries will shed light on the evolving technological and business landscapes in the post-pandemic world. Notable contributors include Jong Bum Park, chairman of Austria’s Youngsan business, as the keynote speaker.
Additional lecturers such as USC Professor Seon Ho Kim, Sarah Song of S’HAMPAGNE, Gyehyon Andrea Jo from MVLASF, and Rick Kim of Home Shopping World will delve into topics including AI, digital commerce, and investment.
The CEO Forum will also feature interactions with Kioh Park and Arnold Byun from the small business platform Maum, Daniel Lee of SodaGift, and Justin Cho from OrangeMonkie in a Q&A session.
“A week prior to the trade school, an online orientation will provide a platform for participants to conceptualize business models, further encouraging collaboration throughout the conference,” said Patricia Kim, chair of the OktaLA Next Generation Subcommittee. “We aim to impart actionable startup and trade methodologies, ranging from identifying diverse funding sources to networking with industry maestros.”
Interested individuals between the ages of 22-39 can apply to attend the 2023 World-Okta West Coast Next Generation Global Entrepreneurs Conference by September 15. The participation fee is set at $295, with slots available for the first 100 applicants.
