Boy band Treasure will drop its second full-length album in August and present a new five-member sub-unit in July, YG Entertainment founder and head producer Yang Hyun-suk said Monday.

The announcement was made in a video featuring the YG founder, where he started by apologizing that he had not been able to focus on Treasure due to various “circumstances.”

The band’s sub-unit, T5, will begin revealing its members, who Yang described as “the five handsome members” of Treasure, one by one starting Tuesday.

A full-length album titled “Reboot” will come in August, although no other details were revealed.

“Yang Hyun-suk director expressed his strong will to help Treasure make a lot of good music,” YG Entertainment said in a press release. “We hope to see a big change in Treasure’s activities as Yang Hyun-suk returns to YG Entertainment as the chief producer.”

The video comes six months after Yang made a public appearance as a key figure of the agency for the first time in almost four years in January when he introduced the agency’s upcoming girl group BabyMonster for the first time.

Yang had stepped down as the de facto head of the agency in June 2019 due to “degrading and insulting words being circulated like truth,” Yang then said.

He was reported to the police in 2019 for allegedly providing prostitutes to potential investors and blackmailing an informant known to be a former trainee at the agency.

The prosecution did not file charges on the sexual solicitation allegation, and the Seoul Central District Court found Yang not guilty of threatening the information on Dec. 22 last year.

The scandals involving Yang brought down the company’s stock prices and kept artists from active promotion of their music.
