The music video for Blackpink’s “Shut Down” (2022) surpassed 500 million views on YouTube, YG Entertainment said Sunday.
Blackpink reached the milestone at 4:04 p.m. that day, 331 days after its release.
“Shut Down” is the lead track of the girl group’s second full-length album, “Born Pink” (2022).
This makes the song the group’s 15th to have more than 500 million views on YouTube.
Blackpink is the most-subscribed artist on YouTube, with more than 90.6 million subscribers.
The group is in the middle of its world tour “Born Pink,” to which it saw some 1.5 million fans in attendance. It is currently in its U.S. leg, and the tour is set to conclude on Aug. 26 in Los Angeles.
Earlier this month, fans were lined up to shop at Blackpink’s “Born Pink” pop-up store in New York City, which ran from Wednesday to Saturday. This is the second stop, following London from June 29 to July 1.
Korean media outlets reported on the infamous “open run,” — which refers to long lines forming outside stores before their opening time, estimating that about 100,000 fans were at the store.
On sale were exclusive merchandise, from $70 short-sleeved T-shirts to $500 bomber jackets, all designed by Tokyo-based graphic designer Verdy. Even a custom-made electric bicycle that cost $3,499 eventually sold out.
