As graduation season begins, more parents are focused on buying cars for their teenage children. Experts advise that with the right choice, parents can find reliable and economical models from trusted brands that ensure safety and value for their graduating children.
In a recent report by US News & World Report, 12 models were selected as the best new and used cars for teens in 2025, with South Korean car brands taking more than half of the spots.

Hyundai had six models on the list, while Kia had one, making a total of seven Korean car models highlighted for their affordability, fuel economy, and safety.
Affordable New Cars for Teens
Many of these Korean models were also recognized as top picks in their categories for the second year in a row. Selected vehicles spanned a range of prices and types, appealing to both parents and teen drivers.
In the $20,000 to $25,000 new car segment, the Toyota Corolla Hybrid was praised for its fuel economy and driving performance, while the Kia Soul repeated its recognition in the SUV category.
In the $25,000 to $30,000 price range, the Hyundai Elantra won for its smooth ride, stable handling, and high fuel efficiency. In the same range, the Hyundai Tucson SUV earned top marks for its refined design, comfortable ride, and driving performance, marking its fourth consecutive appearance on the list.
In the $30,000 to $35,000 sedan category, the Honda Civic Hybrid was recognized for its quality and efficiency. Meanwhile, the Hyundai Tucson Hybrid continued to impress with its powerful hybrid powertrain and fuel economy.
For cars priced from $35,000 to $40,000, the Toyota Camry was chosen as the best sedan for its smooth hybrid driving performance, and the Subaru Forester was the top SUV pick, praised for its all-wheel drive (AWD) and comfortable ride.
Korean Brands Excel in Used Car Category
Korean brands also stood out in the used car category. The 2022 Hyundai Elantra Hybrid was recognized for its excellent fuel economy and low maintenance costs, while the 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid was again highlighted. The 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid was named the best used midsize SUV for its quiet interior, driving feel, and decent fuel efficiency. In the midsize sedan category, the 2021 Subaru Legacy earned the top spot.
