bb.q ranked ‘Best Fried Chicken’ brand, beating KFC and Popeyes

A Korean fried chicken brand has been recognized as the best fried chicken in the U.S.

One of Korea’s ‘big three’ fried chicken franchise bb.q’s operator Genesis BBQ Group announced on February 26 that the brand has been named the ‘Best Fast Food Fried Chicken’ by Taste of Home magazine.

Taste of Home is a specialized food publication founded in 1993, with 1.9 million subscribers and an average of 20 million monthly website visitors.

Taste of Home visited seven fast-food fried chicken restaurant chains nationwide and named the Korean fried chicken chain the best fried chicken. Its competitors included well-known fried chicken chains, KFC and Popeyes. The second-place winner was Louisiana-based American fast-food chain Raising Cane’s. Popeyes followed as the third on the list, while Chick-fil-A and Wingstop each won fourth and fifth place.

The bb.q Chicken was also ranked as the best fried chicken wing among 10 famous fast-food brands including Domino’s, Dave & Busters, and Buffalo Wild Wings.

“Winning the top spot in the U.S. over a number of global chicken franchises is significant,” said the company spokesperson.

The bb.q franchise operates more than 700 restaurants in 57 countries, including the U.S., Costa Rica, and the Philippines. In the U.S., the company has opened restaurants in 27 of the 50 states.

According to the Brand Reputation Index analyzed by BRIKorea based on consumer big data, bb.q ranked second in February. The first was Goobne Chicken, a Korean oven-roasted chicken that also has franchise stores in the U.S. market.
