aespa’s latest EP “Drama” sold over one million copies, becoming the girl group’s third album in a row to sell over a million copies.
“Drama,” aespa’s fourth EP released on Nov. 10, sold 1.13 million copies during the week after its release, according to music sales tracker Hanteo Chart.
The feat follows its previous releases with its second EP “Girls” selling over a million copies and its third EP “My World” selling over two million copies.
“Drama” also topped the Chinese music streaming platform QQ Music’s digital album sales chart and was certified double platinum, which is given to albums that reach 2 million yuan ($27.6 million) in sales.
Along with the new music, aespa is also introducing experimental events for fans to experience.
The group recently premiered a virtual reality (VR) concert, dubbed “Lynk-pop: The 1st VR concert aespa,” on Oct. 25 at Megabox Coex theaters in Gangnam District, southern Seoul, and it will run until Tuesday.
Following the VR concert, the group launched a metaverse community on Naver’s metaverse platform Zepeto, named “aespa World,” in collaboration with music technology company Verses, on Friday.
The newly made metaverse community will be based on the group’s cultural universe and use songs from the group, including its latest album’s lead and title track, “Drama.”
aespa debuted in 2020 under SM Entertainment. It consists of four members: Karina, Winter, Giselle and Ningning. The group is known for songs such as “Next Level” (2021), “Savage” (2021) and “Spicy.”
