A woman in her 30s was arrested on Wednesday for threatening to murder 20 Korean men at Seohyeon Station in Bundang, Gyeonggi.

She was among the individuals taken into police custody due to threats and obstruction of justice since the knife-wielding attack by 22-year-old Choi Won-jong a week ago.

The unnamed woman posted her threat on an online community on the same day Choi assaulted over a dozen people at the AK Plaza mall near Seohyeon Station.

In her post, the woman claimed she would stab 20 Korean men on Friday.

While she didn’t carry out the threat, she reportedly informed the police during her arrest that her actions were driven by a desire for revenge against Korean men, inspired by news of women being attacked by Choi.

In response, the police stationed officers in protective gear at the subway station.

Among those injured in Choi’s attack, a woman in her 60s succumbed to her injuries after he struck her with his compact vehicle, which he drove onto the sidewalk in front of the mall before proceeding indoors to attack people with the knife he had with him.

Another woman in her 20s, who was also hit by Choi’s car, remains unconscious and has not yet regained consciousness.
