2017 presents itself as the Year of the Fire Rooster, so people who were born in 1969, 1981, 1993 and 2005 can truly say, “This year is my year”.
Although many think of China when it comes to the Lunar Calendar, South Korea follows the same idea of basing dates of holidays and celebrations with the moon’s cycles. When Korean people ask for an individual’s sign, they are able to calculate age (cycle repeats every 12 years) and get a glimpse of one’s personality and characteristics.
The 12 animal signs are known as Sibijiisin (십이지신), which literally translates to Twelve Gods of the Earth. The “gods” are represented through the animals: rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog and pig. The “earth” is represented by five elements within each God: wood, fire, earth, gold and water.
When it comes to personality, people born as roosters are industrious, outspoken, sharp-witted, and extravagant. Because of such traits, these dreamers are advised to consider every detail before making a decision. On top of that, fire rooster people, who are those born in 1957 and 2017, tend to be trustworthy and hold strong sense of time, money and responsibility.
