A flight deal parodying LA Mayor Karen Bass’s trip to Ghana has sparked interest. The flight deal website Secret Flying introduced a $998 round-trip ticket from Los Angeles to Accra, the capital of Ghana, under the name “The Karen Bass Special: A Perfectly Silent Flight.”

This offer satirizes Mayor Bass’s controversial Ghana trip amid criticism of leadership inaction during recent wildfires. The deal, available through Turkish Airlines, can be booked from January to December, excluding the summer season.

The phrase “A Perfectly Silent Flight” in the deal’s title alludes to the timing of Mayor Bass’s trip to Ghana, which occurred as wildfires were spreading. The mayor returned to Los Angeles on January 8, only after significant wildfire damage had drawn public outcry.

Meanwhile, Mayor Bass, who aims for reelection in 2026, faces the challenge of overcoming this controversy. She has yet to provide a clear explanation or solutions for issues such as insufficient firefighting water supply and reservoir mismanagement, which came to light during initial containment efforts. Her public standing has further been impacted by blame-shifting with the state governor.
