Dr. Young-Hoon Yoon, director of the Health Checkup Center at Gangnam Severance Hospital in South Korea, recently visited Los Angeles to promote their tailored health screening program for Korean Americans.
As a professor of gastroenterology at Gangnam Severance Hospital, Dr. Yoon emphasized the center’s exceptional diagnostic accuracy, credited to its team of seasoned medical professionals. At the Health Checkup Center, 18 professors exclusively focus on health screenings, preceding outpatient services. Most have over a decade of experience in the program, ensuring some of the highest diagnostic standards in Korea.
The hospital is also a leader in adopting cutting-edge medical technologies, including AI-powered colonoscopy tools and advanced blood tests for early cancer detection. “Even with 25 years of experience performing colonoscopies, I missed things but AI has identified issues, which amazes me,” Dr. Yoon said.
To serve the Korean-American community, Gangnam Severance Hospital has partnered with Samho Tour to offer a special health screening program. The service accommodates the tight schedules of visitors from the U.S., providing quick test results and immediate follow-ups if additional treatment is required.
Dr. Yoon noted that while patients from Eastern Europe and the Middle East often face higher international fees due to added services like interpretation, Korean Americans are charged standard rates, reducing their financial burden.
The partnership between Gangnam Severance Hospital and Samho Tour dates back 15 years, allowing Korean Americans to easily book health screenings through the travel agency.
Addressing concerns about potential disruptions caused by the resignation of medical residents, Dr. Yoon assured that the Health Checkup Center operates independently of resident physicians. “Although there were initial adjustments, the system is now fully stabilized, and health screenings continue to run smoothly,” he said.
Dr. Yoon encouraged Korean Americans to take advantage of the program, saying, “We hope the community feels reassured and benefits from fast, accurate health checkups at our center.”
