Seoul Medical Group (SMG) hosted its annual AEP Kickoff Dinner in anticipation of the Medicare Annual Enrollment Period (AEP), which begins on October 15. SMG unveiled its new slogan, “With Love, Like Family, We Put You First,” and pledged to leap into the future.

The dinner, held at the Grand Ballroom of the Intercontinental Hotel in downtown Los Angeles, was attended by more than 360 guests, including physicians, insurance company representatives, and agents. Of those, 220 were insurance agents, followed by 80 insurance company representatives and 60 physicians.

In addition, 10 insurers, including Blue Shield, Central Health Plan, and Humana, had separate booths at the event to provide senior insurance information, where agents lined up to get the newest insurance information.

Richard Park, Chairman of SMG, emphasized the words “responsibility” and “companionship” at the event. “We will act responsibly while accompanying not only Korean-American seniors but also the Korean-American community,” Park said, adding “We will run the company with a mindset of giving back to our parents’ generation as they struggled and built the foundation.” He also expressed his commitment to recognizing and honoring Korean-American seniors.

Calvin Hwang, Chief Marketing Officer of SMG, introduced the company’s new slogan, “With love, Like family, We put you first”.

“The motto fits Chairman Richard Park’s vision,” said Hwang, “and we will act according to the motto and also build our competitiveness.”

This year’s event was attended by more younger attendees than last year. Among them was John Ehum, an attending physician at Grace Family Medical Clinic in Cerritos and a member of SMG. He has been involved with SMG for six years, starting in 2018. “There is a generational change in physicians at SMG and it is having a positive effect,” said Ehum. “It is good to see SMG transforming quickly to keep up with the changes.”

As for future plans, Park vowed to continue recruiting the next generation of young professionals and to evolve the system to be in line with the surrounding environment.
