The Seoul National University Alumni Association of America (SNUAA), led by President Sang-gang Lee, held its 3rd annual Scholar Awards Ceremony on August 30 virtually.
Five students, who emerged victorious from a highly competitive selection process with a 20:1 applicant-to-recipient ratio, were each awarded a $10,000 scholarship. The recipients are: Alan Dongjin Lee (California, MIT), Aranne Claire Jung (California, Smith College), Eben Lee (Illinois, UIUC), Jeremy Seohoon Kim (New York, Stanford University), and Yoonseo Lee (California, USC).
In his remarks, Alumni President Sang-gang Lee expressed his admiration for the students, stating, “I know that all the recipients are diligently working toward their goals with great aspirations. I hope this scholarship helps them achieve their dreams and serves as a motivation for future success.”
The keynote speaker, Professor Jin-hyung Lee from Stanford University, shared her reflections, saying, “I realized that our community, which sometimes leans towards uniformity, is actually a place filled with mutual love. As I observed more closely, it became clear that our community is made up of diligent and remarkable individuals capable of making significant changes on the global stage. We are living in an era where we can witness this firsthand.”
Professor Lee further added, “I hope this scholarship serves as a reminder that it is an investment in the future of our community and a token of love. As you face various challenges ahead, remember that you have a loving and supportive community standing by you, and this will empower you to tackle them head-on. I hope you, like me, take pride in being a part of this community that shares love and support.”
The virtual ceremony, conducted via Zoom, was attended by 40 participants, including SNUAA executive members, scholarship selection committee members, and the scholarship recipients.
