The organizer of the LA edition of the “Waterbomb” concert, originally from Korea, is facing backlash after unexpectedly converting all seating options to standing-only and raising ticket prices.
Waterbomb is a popular summer concert concept in Korea, where attendees enjoy music while cooling off with water sprays and water gun fights. The event has garnered immense popularity in Korea for its unique experience.
According to Made One, the event organizer, the “2024 Waterbomb Los Angeles” concert is set to take place on August 28 and 29 at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California. Tickets for the event were originally sold in eight categories, including standing, seated, and VIP options.
However, on September 3, Made One abruptly changed all tickets to standing-only. In a statement posted on Instagram, the organizer announced that all seated tickets would be refunded, and VIP ticket holders would receive partial refunds.
Despite the refunds, the organizer stated that ticket holders would have priority in purchasing standing tickets. As a result, lower-priced tickets, including second-floor seating, have disappeared, leaving only $260 standing tickets available.
Fans who had purchased seated tickets expressed their frustration, particularly those who had hoped to enjoy the concert from the second-floor seats. Many have criticized the sudden price hike, with some fans taking to Instagram to voice their concerns.
Comments included, “The management seems amateurish; I’m worried” and “This is absurd, it might be the last concert.”
The event organizer has yet to explain the specific reasons behind the seating and price adjustments.
Meanwhile, Waterbomb is renowned for its star-studded artist lineup. At this year’s Seoul event, Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman made surprise appearances, delighting the crowd.
The LA edition will feature popular Korean artists, including Kwon Eun-bi, Jay Park, Simon Dominic, Jessi, Hwasa, Chung Ha, K.Will, and ATEEZ.
Waterbomb LA is part of a world tour, with events scheduled in 11 international cities, including Hong Kong, Dubai, and Singapore.
