LA Metro has added the expo Line to LA Getty Center and Malibu Getty Villa to help the citizens enjoy their cultural activities. You can now avoid the severe traffic and enjoy the Getty without having to drive your own car.
The Getty Center Expo Line runs on Line 734 on weekdays, and Line 234 on weekends. You can take this expo line bus at Sepulveda Station.
To go to the Getty Villa, you can take the express 534 line at across the Downtown Santa Monica Station (5th and Colorado Ave).
LA Metro announced that they will extend the route considering the usage reports of the residents.
The Getty’s PR team expects to receive more visitors, saying “Right now at the Getty Center, special exhibition ‘Cave Temples of Dunhuang: Buddhist Art on China’s Silk Road’ is opening with great responses. You can enjoy the Buddhist art of China’s Silk Road. At the Getty Villa, ‘Roman Mosaics across the Empire’ is showing, which you can access to the splendid culture and the daily lives of the Romans during the Roman Era.”
The Silk Road exhibition at the Getty Center is available until September 4th, and the Roman mosaic exhibition at the Getty Villa is until September 12th.
Julie Jaskol from Getty’s PR team positively suggested the use of metro bus because “you can enjoy the Getty totally free without any admission or parking fees.”
The Getty Center opens from 10AM to 5:30PM on Tuesdays to Fridays, and Sundays, and 10AM to 9PM on Saturdays. They close on Mondays. However, they have extended the opening hours for visitors for the summer, extending to 9PM on Fridays and 7PM on Sundays (until September 4th).
The Getty Villa opens from 10AM to 5PM on Wednesdays to Mondays. They close on Tuesdays. They also close on national holidays, but not on Independence Day. The Getty Villa, as well, extends the hours till 9PM on Saturdays (until August 27th).
The admission fees of both Getty Center and Getty Villa is free. (You have to make a reservation for free admission tickets online in advance).
The parking charge at both Getty Center and Getty Villa is $15, but discounted down to $10 after 4PM. Furthermore, the Getty is currently offering the ‘Pay Once, Park Twice’ service, which targets those customers who visit Getty Center and Getty Villa on the same day, and through the service they only have to pay once at one of them. To use the service, you will have to talk to the information desk at the location you visit first, and then secure the free parking ticket for the next location.
