Genesis will sponsor an annual art display at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art under a new five-year partnership.

The Met’s Facade Commission, newly named the Genesis Facade Commission, is the museum’s annual series of contemporary art installations at its Fifth Avenue facade niches.

Founded in 2019, the series invites one artist each year to create new “site-specific works of art, inspiring authentic connections between the artist, The Met’s audiences, as well as the broader global art communities.”

Previous participants include Wangechi Mutu, Hew Locke and Nairy Baghramian.

Korean artist Lee Bul will create four new sculptures for the upcoming year, which will be on view from Sept. 12 to May 27, 2025.

The Metropolitan Museum partnership is part of the Genesis Art Initiatives, a project through which the automaker collaborates with global art organizations.

“As a longtime supporter of the arts, we are thrilled to embark on a new journey of Genesis Art Initiatives with The Metropolitan Museum of Art, one of the world’s most highly respected arts institutions,” said Hyundai Motor Group Executive Chair Euisun Chung.

“With our aspiration and ambition for this impactful partnership, we hope to become part of The Met’s inspiring community and to amplify the voices of renowned cultural visionaries.”
