The highly anticipated 2024 Next Gen Expo, a platform highlighting the endeavors of nonprofit Korean-American student groups and social organizations, is set to take place on Saturday, April 27. Following the success of its inaugural launch last year, this year’s event promises an even more engaging and impactful experience.
Next Gen Expo is a collective effort by nonprofit organizations to showcase their ongoing work and future aspirations. From captivating presentations on the main stage to interactive exhibits at designated booths, attendees can expect a dynamic display of creativity and innovation from the participating organizations.
The event is sponsored by the Korean American Federation of Los Angeles (KAFLA), in collaboration with the Office of District 10 Councilmember Heather Hutt and the Korea Daily, serving as the exclusive media sponsor, underscoring the significance of fostering community engagement and empowerment among the Korean-American youth. The event has free admission.
Next Gen Expo is scheduled to unfold from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. PDT on April 27, at the KAFLA building located at 981 S. Western Ave in LA Koreatown. The venue will set the stage for celebrating the rich diversity and talent within the Korean-American community.
Reflecting on the significance of the Next Gen Expo, Helen Kim, the founding CEO of Next Generation Advocates, the organization hosting the event, said, “Many students have clubs in school, but they rarely participate in practical showcasing to the public. This will provide a stage for them to effectively promote their organizations and talents.”
Moreover, the Next Gen Expo serves as a pivotal networking opportunity, bridging established nonprofits with emerging social and student-run organizations striving for greater visibility and impact. Notably, 21 organizations, including KAFLA, the Korean American Coalition (KAC), the LA County Department of Mental Health, and the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) and Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Cadets are set to participate in this year’s event.
Next Gen Expo welcomes students who may not be affiliated with registered organizations to partake in the festivities. Participants can earn Community Service Award and volunteer credits by actively engaging in various roles, from guiding visitors to staffing booths and assisting with stage operations.
Encouraging broad participation, Kim emphasized, “We encourage everyone, especially students who are not registered for booths, to participate and gain volunteer experience while exchanging college admission and future career information.”
