From pizza to doughnuts, companies boosts marketing with total solar eclipse

Retailers are gearing up for the total solar eclipse across North America on April 8 with a variety of special promotions, including discounts and commemorative specials. Pizza Hut, Krispy Kreme, and Frito-Lay Sun Chips are just a few of the retailers that are taking advantage of the eclipse.

Pizza Hut
Pizza Hut is offering all large pizzas for $12 as part of its Total Eclipse of the Hut event. That’s up to $11 cheaper than a regular large pizza ($16.49 – $23.49).

Krispy Kreme
Krispy Kreme launched a new Total Solar Eclipse Donut to celebrate the event.

The donut features chocolate icing with silver sprinkles and an Oreo cookie in the center to represent the eclipse. The donut will be available for a limited time until April 8.

Frito-Lay Sun Chips
SunChips will host a special event on the day of the eclipse, giving away free bags of its new Pineapple Habanero and Black Bean Spicy Gouda flavors for 4 minutes and 27 seconds from 10:33 a.m.

Burger King
Burger King is offering Royal Perks members a coupon for a free Whopper burger on April 8 by texting “ECLIPSE” to 251251. First-time Burger King app customers can also enjoy the same offer.

Warby Parker
Eyewear brand Warby Parker is offering free International Organization for Standardization (ISO) certified eclipse glasses at all of its stores. Each family can receive up to two pairs.

Chattanooga Bakery
Chattanooga Bakery, makers of the famous Moon Pie, has released a Solar Eclipse Survival Kit. The kit, which includes four mini moon pies and two eclipse glasses, is available for $9.99.
