The Korea Daily will review a series of restaurants in LA frequented by K-pop idols and celebrities.

The third LA restaurant frequented by Korean celebrities is Woo Hyang Woo in LA Koreatown. Woo Hyang Woo is a Korean Barbecue restaurant famous for being visited by many worldwide celebrities such as Post Malone, Ha-seong Kim, Simu Liu, etc.

Woo Hyang Woo offers more than just meat, including soups, noodles, drinks, etc.
Following our visit to the restaurant, we had the opportunity to interview the restaurant manager of Woo Hyang Woo.

Below are edited excerpts from our interview with the restaurant manager.

-Woo Hyang Woo has been visited by various Korean and worldwide celebrities such as Post Malone, Ha-seong Kim, etc. Can you explain the reasons behind this popularity?
“I think many celebrities and customers come to Woo Hyang Woo because of its unique flavor and reasonable price. They all came and were satisfied with the food. Many fans of celebrities recognize our restaurant and visit. There are also many customers coming to Woo Hyang Woo’s Korean branch as well.”

-Since the store is located in Koreatown, it seems that not only Koreans (including Korean-Americans) but also customers of various ethnicities visit. What is the ratio of Koreans and non-Koreans among your customers, and do you realize the popularity of Korean Barbecue?
“We have a higher percentage of non-Korean customers than Korean customers. About 30% of our customers are Koreans, and about 70% are non-Korean. This is due to the fact that Korean culture is becoming more popular around the world, and there is a lot of interest in Korean movies and dramas as well as K-pop idols, so we have a lot of Korean culture fans visiting Woo Hyang Woo.”

-Do you have any signature dishes that you think your customers are most likely to try, and are there any lesser-known dishes that you would personally recommend?
“Among the many international celebrities who have visited us, our short rib tomahawk and marinated short ribs are the most popular. Other favorites include beef bulgogi, wagyu beef tartare, and spicy bulgogi. We take great pride in sharing the traditional flavors of Korea with not only Koreans but also customers of other ethnicities.”
